Sharing is caring!
Today I’m going to share 11 of my favorite self care ideas that are perfect for spring!
I feel like spring is such a wonderful time of year for fresh starts!
So if you’ve started to slip on those new year’s resolutions to prioritize self care this year, why not use this as an opportunity to refocus?
Self care can be such an important part of maintaining a healthy and happy life.
From parenting to relationships, even productivity at work…there’s no part of your life that won’t benefit from you taking the time to take care of yourself!
So keep reading to find out how each of these 11 ideas may be able to help you jumpstart your self care journey this spring!
1. Reflect on your daily routines
Winter can be a tough season for most of us.
Colder weather keeps us indoors more, so we may be less active, and more prone to feeling down or depressed.
We may over indulge in comfort foods (guilty!), or stop exercising as often as we used to.
We may fall into some bad habits or routines without even realizing it!
Spring is a perfect time to start fresh, and reevaluate what parts of your daily routine are working for you, and what you may want to let go of.
Remember to start slow, and make small changes, rather than tackling everything all at once.
Even just small habits like drinking more water, or going for a daily walk, can really help to improve your mood and energy levels!
2. Buy yourself some flowers
Who says you have to wait for someone else to buy you flowers?
Pick out a pretty bouquet to add to your dining table, your nightstand…wherever you can look at them often!
And don’t forget to stop and smell them sometimes too!
3. Open the windows
Bask in that glorious natural light!
Let in some fresh spring air!
We tend to keep our homes closed up tightly throughout the winter, so now’s the perfect time to let everything air out finally!
Plus some fresh air and sunlight can do wonders to boost your mood!
4. Don’t get carried away with “spring cleaning”
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again.
Sometimes the best type of self care is simply not doing something.
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE spring cleaning!
I almost always do spring cleaning to some extent, depending on what my current schedule looks like.
It can be a great time of year to tackle those areas of your home that are usually forgotten, or to do any household chores that you’ve been putting off.
And a bonus way to get in some more physical activity after a long winter!
BUT sometimes I think there’s just TOO much pressure to do it all as soon as the weather starts to warm up.
Spring cleaning lists, and organization ideas can be great, but remember to go at your own pace!
Don’t try to tackle every inch of your home in a weekend! And don’t aim for perfection, because even the most beautiful homes you see on Instagram or Pinterest aren’t perfect!
If you do feel inspired to take on some extra chores around the house, set realistic goals for yourself, and make sure to stop and appreciate your progress every step of the way!

5. Make a morning playlist
If you don’t have one already, then let me tell you, you don’t know what you’re missing!
My morning playlist is a must-have for keeping my mornings running smoothly!
Your playlist should be designed to help create the mood you want to start off your day with.
Personally I actually have two morning playlists.
The first is more relaxed (but not enough to make you sleepy!) songs, with a very chill vibe.
Perfect for that just woke up, not yet had my coffee or got my wits about me stage, haha!
The second is much more high energy, and filled with all my feel-good favorites.
This one is post-coffee, obviously haha!
I’ve actually noticed that when I play my first playlist in the morning, my son is usually much more relaxed and less prone to meltdowns during breakfast. And I’m usually able to stay much calmer and be less grumpy when they do occasionally happen!
6. Make your home smell good
Cleaning every single inch of your home may not be necessary, but nothing beats having a fresh smelling home in the springtime!
Now candles and wax melts are an option of course, but personally I’ve stopped using anything but natural fragrance in my home, and I’ve never looked back!
Essential oils like lemon, orange, or lavender are just a couple that can be used to create a lovely and fresh scent for this time of year!
I actually have an entire post where I dive into more ways to achieve an incredible smelling house using nothing but natural solutions!

7. Go for a picnic
Grab a blanket and a basket (or whatever you have on hand!) and find a cozy spot outdoors!
Or if that feels like too much, just spend your lunch break outside!
Either way, enjoying nature while also enjoying some good food is always a winning combination!
8. Read your favorite book of poetry
(Or find a new favorite!)
Am I the only one who feels the urge to read EVERY book of poetry I can get my hands on this time of year?!
Honestly, whether it’s the sweet smell of wildflowers, the warm breeze, or the sound of kids playing outside that echoes through the neighborhood in the evenings once again, I swear there is just something magical about this time of year!
It always leaves me wanting to enjoy and explore the creative concepts often dreamt up in poetry.
A few of my current favorites are:
The Poetry of Rilke – Rainer Maria Rilke
The Truth About Magic: Poems – Atticus
Suicide and Ice Cream – Jack Ray
9. Plan your meals
You know how we talked about overindulging in that comfort food over the winter?
Well now is the perfect time to get back to a more balanced diet!
Meal planning can be an amazing way to get your eating habits heading in better direction.
And if you don’t have time to plan a full week of meals just yet?
Don’t stress! Start with something smaller, like buying and prepping some vegetables and other healthy snacks.
That way they’re easy to just grab when you need something quick, without needing to turn to junk food!
10. Change up your style
Is there anything about your look that you’d like to switch?
This is the perfect time of year to freshen up your style with something new!
Maybe a new haircut or color? Perhaps you usually stick to jeans but want to try out an occasional spring dress?
Even just a new shade of eye liner or lipstick can be a fun way to mix things up a bit!
11. Start a new hobby
Is there anything that you’ve been wanting to try?
One of those things you keep telling yourself you’ll have time for “eventually”?
Make some time!
Engaging in hobbies you enjoy is such an important part of a balanced and fulfilling life!
I hope these 11 self care ideas for spring inspired you to really just take some time for you right now!
Remember that you can’t fill from an empty cup, and the people around you will also benefit when you take better care of yourself!
