How to Sell Digital Products

1. Etsy

Etsy

My personal favorite place to sell digital products is Etsy!

And it’s the perfect place for someone just starting out because you don’t have to have an existing audience, email list, or social media following to start getting sales.

Etsy already has an established platform filled with buyers that they’re ready to send your way.

I made sales my very first week on Etsy with digital products!

If you want to learn more about selling digital products on Etsy, you can grab my free guide that includes tips and tricks to start your Etsy shop the right way, PLUS digital product ideas, and FREE ETSY LISTINGS so you can start selling digital products completely free!

    2. Shopify

    Shopify

Shopify is another e-commerce platform that allows you to build your own online store for a monthly fee.

It’s another great option for selling digital products, BUT the start-up cost is higher than on Etsy, and you will have to drive your own traffic to your site using social media, an email list, or other methods.

So it may not work as well for you if you’re just starting out and don’t have an email list or social media following yet, or if you aren’t in a position to pay the monthly fee.

    3. ThriveCart

    ThriveCart

ThirveCart is an online shopping cart platform that also includes the ability to host courses.

I host several products as well as my own online courses on ThriveCart and love it!

The one time fee makes it a great alternative to paying a monthly fee on Shopify, but it may not be an investment someone who’s just starting out with digital products can afford right away.

    Digital Product Ideas

    1. Bookmarks

Bookmarks - Digital Product Ideas to Sell On Etsy

Printable bookmarks are one of the easiest digital products you can create, and they definitely sell!

They have the added bonus of being able to be themed to any upcoming holidays, which is a great way for new sellers to be seen on platforms like Etsy!

You can create a bookmark bundle with as many or as few bookmarks as you’d like.

And it’s easy to use the same template to create additional sets once you’ve finished the first!

    2. Workbooks

Workbook - digital product ideas to sell on Etsy

Shorter than most ebooks, workbooks are easy to create, and help your customers to solve a problem.

It could be a workbook on any subject!

    Some examples I’ve seen are:

    • Self Confidence Workbooks
    • Goal Setting Workbooks
    • Kids Educational Workbooks
    • ADHD Workbooks
    • Business Plan Workbooks
    • And more!

    3. Printable Games

    printable game for kids

From bingo to matching games, word searches to trivia games, there are so many printable games to choose from!

You can create games for kids, adults, teens, or families.

Or even for specific holidays or occasions! (think baby shower games or Christmas games)

Add lots of design details to your games, or keep it simple!

Different buyers want different design styles, and I’ve seen both busy and more minimalist designs preform well.

    4. Instagram Templates

Put all that time you’ve spent scrolling to good use and create some Instagram post templates!

Since most of us are already familiar with Instagram, you probably already have an eye for what designs are eye-catching.

To get the best results, create a matching set of Instagram post templates for influencers or business owners in a specific niche!

    5. Clip Art

clip art - digital product ideas to sell on Etsy

Clip art is a collection of pictures or images that can be imported into a document or another program.

It’s usually sold in either PNG or SVG format, and many people use clipart when designing their own digital or physical products.

It can even be used in sublimation to put designs on t-shirts and other products.

Creating clipart would be a great option for artists!

And just like with a few of the other digital products on this list, clip art can be themed to go along with any upcoming holidays or occasions.

Which makes it easier to quickly get sales even in a brand new shop!

So now you have 5 digital product ideas that you can create this weekend to start making money by Monday!

Choose which one sounds best to you, and head on over to Canva to create a free account and start designing!

You’ll be glad you did when the money starts coming in 🤑
