I am so ready for fall this year, so in preparation I decided to make this cute little DIY fall bucket list jar!
I also created some free printable fall activities cards to go in the jar (plus blank ones to write in your own!) and a cute label for the front!
Some of the activities on the list are:
- Bake a pie
- Carve pumpkins
- Watch a scary movie
- Do a fall craft
- Plus over 10 more!
Okay, is it just me or are you getting ridiculously excited for fall just thinking about all of that?!
I found the jar I used at Dollar Tree in the fall section. And it already had this cute buffalo check pattern on the top!
So since you will be using the free printables I made (you can grab those using the form below!) it will only cost $1 to make!
Another idea would be to use a jar you already have on hand (you can find pasta sauce, natural peanut butter, jelly, and even some condiments that come in jars that would be perfect for this project!)
You could paint the lid to match as well!
Supplies Needed:
- Jar (mine was $1 from Dollar Tree’s fall section but you can use any jar you have on hand too!)
- FREE fall bucket list cards printable
- Glue
- Jute twine (optional)
Step One: Print
First if you haven’t already you’ll want to use the form below to grab your free fall bucket list cards printable:
Once you’ve downloaded and printed it you will want to cut out each activity as well as the label.
Using a paper cutter definitely saves some time with this step, but if you don’t have one on hand regular scissors will work fine too!
Once you have each piece cut out, grab your jar label and move onto the next step.
Step Two: Prep your jar
Now you’ll want to remove any labels that are currently on your jar.
If you’re using one like mine from Dollar Tree it shouldn’t be too hard to peel of the label!
If you’re using a pasta sauce or other type of upcycled jar, you may need to soak it in hot soapy water for awhile to get the entire label off.
Once you’ve removed all the labels, make sure your jar is nice and dry.
Now you’ll want to grab the label you printed and cut out, as well as some glue.
I just used a basic clear craft glue that I had on hand, but I imagine just about any glue would work.
Apply the glue to the back of the label (using a paintbrush helps it to spread on evenly), and then place it on the jar.
Be sure that the label is centered and even before pushing it down all the way!
Once you have it lined up where you want it, firmly press down across the entire label, smoothing it out.
Step Three: Add the activities
Now you’ll want to take all of the fall activities you cut out earlier.
Don’t forget to fill out all of the blank cards with your own ideas!
If you’re having a hard time coming up with more, here are a few more that might work well:
- Go for a hike
- Take photos of the trees in their fall colors
- Grab a morning coffee with a friend
- Write a gratitude list
- Bake pumpkin seeds
- Try a fall dish at a local restaurant
- Play board games
- Make pumpkin pancakes
- Go camping
- Roast s’mores over a fire
- Tell ghost stories
- Build a pillow fort
- And whatever else you love to do in the fall! 🍂
Once you have your cards all filled out, you can decide how you want them to look in your jar!
You can place them in as is, fold them in half, roll them up, or if you know how you could even fold them into origami shapes!
I do not know how haha so for mine I just rolled them up into little scrolls, and then tied each one with a small piece of jute twine!
Simple, and I think it adds to that fall vibe!
To make it super easy, you can just wrap your paper around a pencil like this:
And then tie with a piece of jute twine (mine was about 8 inches long to make it easier to tie)
Just trim off the extra length once you’ve tied your bow, and then slip your paper off of the pencil!
This step is completely optional though, so if you don’t have the twine on hand, no worries!
The result:
And here is the finished product!
I just love the way it looks with the little scrolls inside too!
